Anne Hathaway on Attending a Techno Rave with Co-Star Michaela Coel in Germany

https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/IBpndqXcKGHOAnne: It is so much fun. When I worked with Michaela, I just said they're gonna have to invent words for you because I don't think there's ever been anyone quite like you, that level of technical mastery as an actress, but also your freedom, the freedom of your brilliance, and then just the absolute vitality of her life force, you know, like every single weekend we would be doing this in the barn every weekend doing this very intense dialogue, these very intense characters. This movie is about you know, a fractured relationship and, and kind of the way these two souls come back together to see if they can collaborate again. But every weekend she would go to like a techno club in Germany, and she kept asking me to come and I was like I want to, but I have kids. And or like I like I want to but I have dance rehearsal and then finally one weekend I was like I'm going, got a sitter, didn't have dance rehearsal and we went and we danced at the club and it was so much fun. It was so fun.

Drew: You got to be at a Germany club and Michaela Coel.

Anne: It was really fun because it was an outdoor, it was an outdoor rave spot and it was like a former junkyard and it was just like it was so German romantic

Drew: This sounds like my young life. Yeah, I mean we used to go to parties and have fun.

Anne: What kind of parties, what kind of parties are you going to now, baby?

Drew: None.

Anne: Oh no, we gotta, we gotta fix this. I know, and I would like to, but I also think we need daytime dance spots because a lot of us can't stay up that late and don't you want like just like an 11 a.m. like just go dance with some strangers in a dark space and then like go back out into the day and pretend like you're a grown-up?

Drew: Yes, exactly, that's what I want. I want daytime. I want dancing and then I wanna go to bed early and wake up feeling good.

Anne & Drew on Realizations After They Both Stopped Drinking 7 Years Ago

https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/2APQcEmY73NI
Drew: I'm so boring now. Like I really like.

Anne: No, no, but here's the thing, I don't think you're boring. I think that it's different, but this is what I realized when like I stopped drinking.

Drew: How long ago was that?

Anne: A little over 7 years.

Drew: Oh my God, me too. This August.

Anne: October.

Drew: I always say I'm not sober, that's not my thing, I don't pin that on me. I just, I have a poison with alcohol, and when I kicked that, it changed my whole life.

Anne: Yeah, and, and one of the things I, and I'm, I'm sure you learned things about yourself, and one of the things I learned about myself was my personality has always had two glasses of champagne. So I don't need to have another one because otherwise then I have, then I have a 3rd and then it gets messy. So if I have one, it's like 3.

Drew: I can't stop once I start. And I was the guy who was like a private investigator every morning going, where was I? What did I do?

Anne: The next morning fear I'm sorry we're turning this into an AA meeting you guys.

Drew: But it's true and like I have found a way to get my funk on when I want, my life is, is like just it's so different and it functions in such a healthy way where I feel good inside my body.

Anne On Her Decision to Stop Drinking

https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/gW0ltgOvFjAS

Drew: Can you explain or tell me like what a decision was for you to just say I'm making this decision and I'm allowing the blockade to come down or to channel a new road in life. Can I ask what it was?

Anne: Yeah, you know what I think, without getting too specific, the thing that kept popping up for me is I'm a storyteller. And the story of my life was just, it was the same page over and over and over and I didn't love that page and so I finally was just like we need a new story. And I don't know where it's gonna go, but as long as I just make that choice every day, I'm gonna have this ongoing story and I'm the thing is I'm really excited about is just how much easier I find it to actually connect with people and I thought for years my drinking was helping me with social anxiety but I actually got to like I've, I'm at a place now where I had to figure out how to do it without that and so now it feels like an honest to goodness like wonderful life skill that I can just meet someone and enjoy them. And that feels and enjoy enjoying them, you know, and that feels lovely.

Anne on the Impact of Her Grandmothers & Wanting to Be a Grandmother One Day

https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/FaxxN3ulCC50

Anne: One of the things that made such an impact on me was I was close with my grandmothers and I thought they were the most beautiful, powerful women in the world, so for me like the good time in life was always like that part like and so I always imagined like women in their seventies as like being the stars of the world. And so I always thought of my life as that it was gonna be, I mean it as a child would but like so imperfectly and scattered, but I just had a sense that the decisions I made were gonna have a cumulative effect, which was a big thing about the drinking was I was like, who do I wanna be 10 years from now, 20 years from now, 30 years from now. And I do think that sometimes historically women were left out of stories, but I also think that when we were included we were included up to a certain point and one of the things that's so great about right now is I just see people leaping over barriers and bursting through walls and being like, you know what, it's not for you to tell me what to expect, let me show you, let me show you what's coming. We've never been able to do that before. And it's rad.

Drew: But women, especially because of beauty and Hollywood and fashion and all these things like we for decades were getting this kind of messaging of like stay young stay young stay young and if you saw your life headed to Nonna town it's.

Anne: It's all about Nonna Town. It's all about Nonna Town, literally. No, one of my life goals, I have a name for it, it's called GWFG. I have a, yes, with my best friend, and we like have a dream together and it's we're manifesting it and it's a dream, and it's God willing future grandmas. You know, like we're like that's it, that's like the best part like we're gonna work our butts off right now we're gonna raise our families and make sure they love us and, and then hopefully God willing someday they'll have kids and we'll be grandmoms and we'll just be like sat around with our families that we've built and these lives that we've built.

Drew: I think that's a really important goal.

Anne on Laughter Being Important with Her Husband and Their Second Date at Drew's Party

https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/uTtqwbPM9pG2

Anne: OK, I wanna talk about Adam. So one of my favorite things about my husband is that we just like we share a sense of humor and like we both believe that like laughter and humor is the sixth sense and life is incomplete without it, and we are so determined to go through life finding just about everything funny.

Drew: How did you guys find each other?

Anne: We just met, we met through friends, and as you know, our second date was at your house.

Drew: That's right, at the party.

Anne: Your Halloween party.

Drew: And that was a fun party.

Anne: That was such a fun party. It was so epic. We were still drinking, so we don't really remember.

Anne on "Princess Diaries 3" & the Annaissance

https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/OCRys7bJraB0
Drew: I am excited for another 'Princess Diaries' if that's ever gonna happen. I love those movies.

Anne: We will make it so there's no way that can't happen. It has to happen it has to. We're just, we're chipping away at it. I'm sorry. I just feel like I have to say this. I'm sorry it's taking so long. Yes, I'm waiting for so long, it better be something great, but we are, we are working on it. I just had a conversation about it this morning, so like it's in the, it's in the works, and then, and then you keep using this like really delightful phrase about the Annaissance and the one thing I just wanna say is like this is just about 4 years of work coming out in like a 6 month corridor so that's probably never gonna happen again and so I just kinda wanna dance through this year so if you would all dance with me that would amazing.
