Rep. Juan Vargas Statement on Piker Comments

WASHINGTON - Rep. Juan Vargas (D-CA-52) released the following statement on streamer Hasan Piker's recent comments suggesting that American Jews are inviting violence against themselves and warning that "eventually someone will come around and take action" against them.

"Suggesting that anyone in this country would deserve to face violence just for expressing their beliefs is unacceptable. We're a diverse nation with a wide array of thoughts and opinions, and everyone should feel safe to share these without fear for their safety. Especially at a time where political violence and antisemitism is on the rise, blaming a victim of political violence for bringing it on themselves is unacceptable. I wholeheartedly condemn this statement."
