Rider F Increase – What This Means For Your Electricity Bill

Starting on October 1, 2026, Rider F on Yukon electricity bills is changing from 0.378 cents to 1.0 cent per kilowatt-hour.

Rider F reflects the difference between the actual cost of diesel and liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel used by Yukon Energy and ATCO Electric Yukon and the fuel costs that are included in electricity rates. Fuel prices can change over time, so Rider F can also change.

This change to Rider F reflects higher fuel costs. When more diesel or LNG generation is needed to produce electricity, changes in the cost of that fuel can affect electricity bills.

For a household using 1,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity each month, the change in Rider F represents an increase of about $6.22 per month, before any government rebates.

We know that any increase in electricity costs matters to Yukon families. The Government of Yukon has announced additional support to help reduce the impact of higher electricity bills this winter. Learn more about the Affordability Rate Relief here.
