The Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department will host a number of events throughout the month of November starting on Monday, November 3, with its Teacher Workday Skate.
The following are highlights of the upcoming month's offerings:
Teacher Workday Skate
Monday, November 3 | 1-3 pm | Craft Recreation Center, 3911 Yanceyville St.
Teens ages 13-17 are invited to bring their skates (or borrow skates at the recreation center) and enjoy an afternoon of skating.
Adult Glow in the Dark Dodgeball
Wednesday, November 5, and Wednesday, November 19 | 6:30-8:30 pm | Glenwood Recreation Center, 2010 Coliseum Blvd.
Participants are asked to put on their best outfits that glow in the dark, grab their friends, and head over to Glenwood for glow in the dark dodgeball. This event is for those 18-and-older.
Youth Skate Night @ The Rec
Friday, November 7 | 6-8 pm | Craft Recreation Center, 3911 Yanceyville St.
Teens ages 13-17 are invited to a night of music, skating, food, and friends. Participants are welcome to bring their own skates, or there will be a limited number of skates to borrow.
Nature Journaling Saturday, November 8 | 10 am to noon | Downtown Greenway Meeting Place, Prescott Street Reflect on the beauty of nature and use your senses to guide you, as you remark on what's around you. A notebook and other materials will be provided, but participants are free to bring their own supplies. Parking is located along Prescott Street. Speed Friending Sunday, November 9 | 5-7 pm | LoFi Park, 500 N. Eugene St. This event offers participants the opportunity to meet new friends in a stress-free environment. Register to reserve your spot online at https://tinyurl.com/DGfriending Drop-ins welcome; space permitting.
Movie Day
Wednesday, November 12 | 1-3 pm | Xperience @ Caldcleugh, 1700 Orchard St.
Head over to Caldcleugh and catch a movie, while enjoying a variety of snacks. This event is part of the center's Adaptive & Inclusive Recreation (AIR) program, which means it's open to individuals of all abilities.
Pancakes & Careers
Thursday, November 13 | 10:30 am to 12:30 pm | Peeler Recreation Center, 1300 Sykes Ave.
Attendees will have the chance to find job opportunities and have breakfast. Every second Thursday Pancakes & Careers will be bringing in information about jobs in the community and local colleges and universities, all while enjoying a free pancake breakfast.
TikTalk Girls Talk
Thursday, November 20 | 6:30-7:30 pm | Xperience @ Caldcleugh, 1700 Orchard St.
This series empowers girls ages 12-17 through discussions, creative activities, and confidence-building experiences in a supportive environment. There will be informative conversation, music, crafts, snacks, and a TikTok video creation session with staff.
