FEMA Provides Georgia Additional $10.3 Million to Fund Hurricane Helene Recovery and COVID-19

FEMA approved an additional $10.3 million in funding to support disaster recovery in Georgia.

The funding comes from FEMA's Public Assistance program, which has already provided $1.5 billion to help Georgia recover and rebuild after Hurricane Helene. The Public Assistance program provides funds for state and local government response and recovery work at no less than a 75% federal cost share.

The recently approved Hurricane Helene recovery projects include:

  • $6 million to Satilla Rural Electric Membership Corporation for repairs to public utilities and management costs.
  • $950,000 to Treutlen County for management costs.
  • $657,000 to Chatham County for emergency protective measures.
  • $645,000 to Lanier County for emergency protective measures.
  • $532,000 to Washington County for management costs.
  • $500,000 to Georgia Transmission Corporation for management costs.
  • $250,000 to Tattnall County for management costs.
  • $223,000 to Coffee County for emergency protective measures.

Georgia also recently received one grant for the COVID-19 response:

  • $594,000 to Floyd Healthcare Management, Inc. for management costs.
