Notice of Application to Discontinue Service
The REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA (Commission) gives notice that on November 3, 2026, Eyecom, Incorporated d/b/a Fastwyre Broadband (Eyecom) filed an application to discontinue cable television (CATV) service in Galena and Unalaska (including Dutch Harbor), effective December 31, 2026. If approved, Eyecom will relinquish Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity Nos. 315 (Unalaska) and 316 (Galena). Eyecom included a request for expedited consideration of the application, seeking a ruling from the Commission by December 18, 2026. Docket U-26-026 was opened to address this matter.
In conjunction with the application, Eyecom filed a petition for confidential treatment of disaggregated customer account data. Interested persons may file a response to the petition for confidential treatment with the Commission by the end of the comment period.
AS 42.05.261(a) provides that a public utility may not discontinue service unless, after notice and an opportunity for hearing, the Commission finds that the continued service is not required by the public convenience and necessity. A hearing may be scheduled by the Commission in a future order to allow interested persons to voice their support for or opposition to Eyecom's proposed discontinuance of CATV service.
