Gilbert High School Students Invited to Apply for the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee

Gilbert, Ariz. - High school is a time to explore interests, build confidence, and discover ways to make an impact. For Gilbert students looking to get involved in their community, the Mayor's Youth Advisory Committee (MYAC) offers a unique opportunity to learn, lead, and serve.

Applications are now open for the 2026-2027 MYAC program year. Through MYAC, students gain firsthand experience with local government while connecting with community leaders, working alongside peers, and sharing their perspectives on issues that matter to Gilbert residents.

MYAC members will have opportunities to:

  • Learn how local government works and how decisions are made
  • Provide feedback to the Mayor and Town staff on topics impacting youth and the community
  • Participate in service projects and civic engagement opportunities
  • Develop leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Build connections with students and leaders across Gilbert

To be eligible, students must live in Gilbert or attend a school located in Gilbert and be in grades 9-12 (ages 14-18). Members commit to serving from September through May and are expected to attend monthly meetings, participate in Student Government Day, attend at least one Town Council meeting and one Board or Commission meeting, and complete a minimum of 15 hours of community service benefiting Gilbert residents.

MYAC is more than a committee. It's an opportunity for students to grow as leaders, better understand their community, and help shape Gilbert's future.

Apply now before July 20: gilbertaz.gov/MYAC
