Warren Statement on NVIDIA CEO's Private Dinner with Republican Senators After Declining to Testify at Public Committee Hearing on AI

Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Ranking Member of the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee, released the following statement on NVIDIA President and CEO Jensen Huang's private dinner with Republican senators tonight after declining to testify before the Committee at a public hearing regarding artificial intelligence on June 11, 2026:

"Mr. Huang has found time for a $1 million-a-head dinner at Mar-a-Lago, a trip across the world to meet with President Xi, and now a private dinner with Senate Republicans. But he can't find even an hour to answer questions from Congress in public? The American people deserve to hear why NVIDIA wants to undercut American technological leadership by selling advanced AI chips to China, and whether Mr. Huang has been lobbying senators to kill bipartisan bills that would keep those chips from going to China's military."

Last December, when Huang first held a closed-door meeting with just Senate Republicans, Warren criticized the CEO for lobbying to kill the bipartisan GAIN AI Act and for pushing to preempt state laws that protect children, renters, and working families from being exploited by AI. When the Senate Banking Committee held its hearing on AI last month, Warren invitedHuang to testify, noting that appearing as a witness would give him the chance to lay out NVIDIA's views on U.S. export control laws and its business dealings in China, yet Mr. Huang declined.
