Governor Braun Visits Franklin College, Highlights Indiana's Talent Pipeline

FRANKLIN, IN - Governor Mike Braun visited Franklin College Thursday to highlight how Indiana's colleges and universities are preparing students for careers in growing industries and help more graduates build their lives in Indiana, as well as Franklin's life sciences initiative.

Governor Braun met with Franklin College President Kerry Prather and Franklin Mayor Steve Barnett to learn more about the college's workforce-focused academic programs, experiential learning opportunities and efforts to connect students with Indiana employers.

Franklin College is a Hoosier talent pipeline: 87% of Franklin students are from Indiana, and 85% of its graduates pursue advanced degrees or secure employment in the state.

"Franklin College is preparing Hoosier students for great careers in Indiana's growing industries. By giving students practical experience and connecting them with employers, Indiana's colleges and universities are creating more opportunities for graduates to build successful careers, put down roots, and make their lives here in Indiana, and we are proud to partner with them to keep more Hoosier graduates here in Indiana." - Governor Mike Braun

The college has recently added academic programs in data science, pre-nursing, sports management and marketing, and cybersecurity. Its most popular majors include business, exercise science, biology and elementary education.

During the visit, Governor Braun also explored plans for Innovation Park at Franklin College. The proposed development is intended to bring high-tech businesses, particularly in the life sciences, closer to the college's students and faculty while creating additional opportunities for internships, hands-on learning, and employment.
