Rope Rescue Operations Training

San Rafael Fire Department personnel from Truck 54 and Engine 55 conducted rope rescue training at China Camp State Park. The training focused on developing and reinforcing technical rope rescue skills applicable to wilderness and steep-terrain incidents common to the area.

Crews practiced low- and high-angle rope rescue operations, including scene size-up, hazard mitigation, anchor selection and construction, rope system setup, patient packaging, and coordinated team communication. Emphasis was placed on safe operations and efficient system deployment.

The terrain at China Camp State Park provided a realistic setting to simulate potential rescue scenarios involving hikers or injured persons off established trails. All participating members demonstrated strong teamwork, adherence to safety protocols, and effective use of equipment.

The training successfully met its objectives and enhanced operational readiness for technical rescue responses within the San Rafael Fire Department's service area.
