Share your thoughts on housing priorities for the Inner Eastside!

The Inner Eastside Zoning Project is an effort led by the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability to change zoning in Portland's Inner Eastside to allow for a greater diversity of housing. The goal of the project is to make this desirable area - with access to jobs, public transportation, and everyday needs such as shopping and services - more accessible to a wider range of households.

Live, work, or spend time in the Inner Eastside?

You may have noticed that many of the neighborhoods in this area are primarily single-family houses, with some older apartments mixed in. Since the 1980s, the zoning in most of this area has only allowed for the development of lower-density housing, such as single-family homes.

We have the opportunity to rethink the predominate housing patterns in this area, while also considering other opportunities for the neighborhoods, such as more business and corner stores. Before we start work on zoning proposals, we want to know what your priorities are for neighborhood housing, as well as the best locations for some of these changes.

We are open to all feedback - whether your priorities are housing affordability, preserving historic buildings, allowing more places for neighborhood business, or other ideas.
