Rep. Crank Votes to Move Forward CJS Appropriations Bill; Secures Funding for CO-05 Projects

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, Representative Jeff Crank (CO-05) voted in favor of H.R. 6938, the Commerce, Justice, Science; Energy and Water Development; and Interior and Environment Appropriations Act of 2026.

These projects include funding to:

  1. Purchase of a new rescue vehicle for the El Paso County Sheriff's Office. The County's current and aging vehicle is commonly used to resolve dangerous situations while protecting deputies and the public. In the past year alone, this vehicle has been called to over 275 incidents. The purchase of the new vehicle will ensure our community does not lose this critical capability.
  2. Replace the aging storm sewer system along Palmer Park Boulevard with reinforced concrete pipes, upsize the drainage lines, and install an additional 26 inlets throughout the area. The Palmer Park Drainage Improvement Project will address essential community needs by enhancing public safety, protecting infrastructure, and improving accessibility.
  3. Obtain state-of-the-art computer equipment for the University of Colorado Colorado Springs's Cybersecurity Program and Cyber Engineering Labs. This equipment will allow UCCS to train the next generation of cyber professionals to assist the five military installations and thousands of small businesses that call the Fifth District home.

"My office has secured numerous funding for projects here in Colorado's Fifth Congressional District," said Rep. Jeff Crank. "I am pleased that these three projects will help keep our community safe and protect law enforcement, bolster our students' cybersecurity potential, and advance our infrastructure in the district. I look forward to seeing these projects passing the Senate in the Appropriations bill and being signed into law by President Trump."

"On behalf of my Office and the citizens of Colorado's 5th Congressional District, I extend my sincere gratitude to Congressman Crank for securing critical funding for the purchase of a new Tactical Armored Vehicle," said El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal. "This vehicle will support our deputies during high-risk tactical and rescue operations and will also serve as a valuable tool for community education and engagement. Our current Tactical Armored Vehicle has faithfully served the citizens of the Pikes Peak region and our law-enforcement partners for more than two decades and has been deployed during several significant incidents, including the Planned Parenthood shooting and presidential security details during USAFA graduations. My Office remains committed to ensuring public safety, and it is my responsibility to ensure we have the equipment necessary to hold dangerous criminals accountable, protect victims, and safeguard our deputies and first responders when they face life-threatening situations."

"We applaud Congressman Jeff Crank as a proven champion for El Paso County and for his decisive leadership on the Palmer Park Drainage and Improvement Project," said Carrie Geitner, Chair of the El Paso County Board of Commissioners. "This project is moving forward because Congressman Crank understands how to deliver results. His leadership cut through obstacles, built momentum, and drove this project through yet another crucial legislative goalpost. As a steadfast advocate for our county, Congressman Crank is delivering real progress -strengthening infrastructure, improving public safety, and producing tangible results for the people of El Paso County."

"We are so appreciative of Congressman Crank and his team for engaging in this critical area and supporting the space and cybersecurity ecosystem across Colorado," said UCCS Chancellor Jennifer Sobanet. "UCCS is proud to be a nationally recognized leader in cybersecurity education, and this investment will directly contribute to our efforts to prepare our students for the growing needs of the cybersecurity workforce."
