Inseason Action #17 - #19 in Ocean Salmon Fisheries, North & South of Cape Falcon (Recreational & Commercial)

NOAA Fisheries has taken inseason action in the commercial and recreational salmon fisheries north and south of Cape Falcon.

Inseason Action #17

• Effective 12:01 a.m., on Thursday, August 13, 2026, the landing and possession limit for the commercial salmon troll fishery in the area between the United States/Canada border and Cape Falcon is 40 Chinook salmon and 100 marked coho salmon per vessel per landing week (Thursday - Wednesday).
• Effective 12:01 a.m., on Thursday, August 20, 2026, the landing and possession limit for the commercial salmon troll fishery in the area between the United States/Canada border and Cape Falcon is 15 Chinook salmon and 100 marked coho salmon per vessel per landing week (Thursday - Wednesday).

Inseason Action #18

• Effective 12:01 a.m., Thursday, August 13, 2026, that portion of the Columbia River subarea north of 46° 15' N and east of 124° 08.667' W is closed to recreational fishing for salmon.

Inseason Action #19

• Effective 11:59 p.m., Tuesday, August 18, 2026, for the recreational salmon fishery, the area from Cape Falcon to the Oregon/California border is closed to the retention of coho salmon. *

*Anglers are reminded that following the closure to coho salmon retention, the fishery from Cape Falcon to Humbug Mountain remains open for all salmon except coho salmon, with a 2 salmon daily bag limit through October 31, 2026. The scheduled non-mark-select (no fin-clip requirement) coho salmon fishery will open on September 1, 2026.

Anglers in the area from Humbug Mountain to the Oregon/California border are reminded that all salmon except coho remains open through August 31, 2026, with a 2 salmon day bag limit. In this area, coho retention is prohibited for the remainder of the year.
