Chairperson called for decisive shift from commitments to implementation- Health

At the Extraordinary Session of the @AfricanUnion Assembly on Africa's Health in Accra, #Ghana, hosted by H.E. @JDMahama , President of the Republic of Ghana, & chaired by H.E. @GeneralNeva , President of the Republic of Burundi & Chairperson of the African Union (AU), the Chairperson of the AU Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, called for a decisive shift from commitments to implementation in advancing Africa's #health agenda.

In his keynote address, he underscored that the AU Roadmap to 2030 & Beyond is Africa's implementation compact, designed to end AIDS, eliminate preventable maternal & child deaths, combat communicable & non-communicable diseases, strengthen resilient health systems, & advance Universal Health Coverage.

Emphasising that Africa's health sovereignty depends on stronger domestic financing, local manufacturing of #medicines & #vaccines, robust regulatory systems, research & innovation, & sustained political leadership, he urged Member States to translate the Accra Declaration & national pledges into measurable action.

"Future generations will remember this Summit not for our speeches, but for whether we changed the trajectory of health in Africa."

The Extraordinary Session brings together African leaders & key partners to advance collective action towards ending AIDS & tuberculosis, improving maternal & child health, strengthening resilient health systems, & accelerating Universal Health Coverage across the continent.
