Spring Into March: Events and Activities Across Philadelphia Parks & Recreation Sites

Spring begins this month, making March the perfect time to get outside and shake off the winter blues. From Maple Sugar Day, volunteering opportunities, boating, science for seniors and sunrise hikes, there is something for everyone at Philadelphia Parks & Recreation sites and partner locations across the city.

PennypackEnvironmental Center's Maple Sugar Day at Fox Chase Farm
March 7, 2026

Join us for our annual Maple Sugar Day. Learn the process of maple sugaring, watch the making of maple candy, and sample pancakes with pure maple syrup. There will also be farm animals, crafts, games, community organizations, maple popcorn tasting, marshmallow roasting, story times, and more! Rain, snow, or shine. Take a mid-week break to greet the sun, clear your mind, and get your heart rate up. Teens & Adults. Free. Registration is important because hike locations may vary. This event's Facebook discussion tab will also have updates, but emails through registration are most reliable. Hikes will be about 2 hours, and 4+ miles on the trails.
