Community Council Elections 2026 – Call for Further Nominations

Friday 4 September 2026

Further to the close of nominations for the Community Council elections on Wednesday 2 September 2026 the minimum number of nominations needed to establish the following community councils was not attained:

  • Aberlemno
  • Ferryden & Craig
  • Friockheim and District
  • Inveresk
  • Kirriemuir
  • Kirriemuir Landward West
  • Lunanhead and District
  • Monifieth
  • Royal Burgh of Forfar

As a result, the returning officer has exercised their right under 7.7 of the Scheme of Electoral Arrangements to call for further nominations in these areas. The closing date for further nominations is 4pm on Friday 11 September 2026.
