Share Your Feedback on Santa Fe’s Proposed Living Wage

The City of Santa Fe thanks everyone who joined our recent community engagement events on the proposed living wage. Your input is helping shape a plan that keeps Santa Fe diverse, equitable, and affordable for residents and workers.

If you missed these events, there is still time to have your voice heard. City staff will also be available at the Local Business Meeting on Monday, September 22, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Kitchen Angels .

Key points of the proposed ordinance:

-Raise the living wage to $17.50 an hour after a one-year evaluation.

-Maintain existing provisions for tipped workers, Medicaid-dependent nonprofits, and health and childcare benefits.

-Tie annual increases to both inflation (Western CPI) and local housing costs (HUD Fair Market Rent), capped at 5 percent per year.

-Establish Santa Fe as the first U.S. city to link a living wage directly to housing costs.
