An award-winning poet whose work is rooted in personal narrative, place and the uneven terrains of American life will conclude Northwest Missouri State University's Visiting Writers Series this month.

Green Tower Press Chapbook Winner Anthony Robinson will present his work from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 16, in the J.W. Jones Student Union Tower View Dining Room.

Robinson began writing poems while serving in the U.S. Navy during the 1990s and matriculated at the University of Oregon, where he later taught. He currently lives and writes in rural Oregon.

His poems have appeared in The Brooklyn Rail, Court Green, The Iowa Review, Gulf Coast, Lungfull!, No Tell Motel, The Tiny, Verse and ZYZZYVA, among other journals. His first full-length book, "Failures of the Poets," was published in 2023.

Robinson's chapbook, "Broke Republic," received the 2024 Midwest Chapbook Prize from Northwest's Green Tower Press and The Laurel Review.

The Visiting Writers Series is designed to enrich Northwest's educational mission while promoting the values of community, civil discourse and self-expression. The Green Tower Press and the School of Language, Literature and Writing sponsor the series.
