The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf this morning received the credentials of the newly appointed Representative of @UNFPA to the AU, Ms. Ndeye Rose Sarr.
He commended the partnership between the AU & UNFPA, particularly its contribution to the implementation of the Addis Ababa Declaration on Population & Development in Africa Beyond 2014 & the Maputo Plan of Action, as well as its support to advancing maternal, newborn & reproductive health outcomes across the continent.
Ms. Sarr expressed her appreciation to the Chairperson & reaffirmed UNFPA's commitment to strengthening cooperation. She briefed the Chairperson on ongoing collaborative initiatives between UNFPA & the AU, including collaboration with the @AU_HHS & @AfricaCDC.
The Chairperson underscored the importance of further deepening the AU-UNFPA partnership through enhanced, results-oriented and impactful joint actions in support of Africa's health, development and demographic priorities.
