Summer Air Travel Demand Stays Strong in ND

(Bismarck, ND) - The North Dakota Aeronautics Commission (NDAC) has released its monthly airline passenger report for the state's eight commercial service airports.

In August 2025, North Dakota airports recorded 112,982 passenger boardings, setting a new all-time high for the month of August. This surpasses the previous record of 108,035 set in 2024-a 5% year-over-year increase, representing nearly 5,000 additional travelers.

Seven of the eight airports posted growth compared to last August, contributing to the state's sixteenth consecutive month of record-breaking passenger traffic.

Airline capacity also expanded throughout the state, with 138,175 total airline seats available for purchase in August-up from 127,837 one year ago. Scheduled airline departures throughout North Dakota increased to 1,814 flights, compared to 1,611 in August of 2024. The average statewide aircraft load factor also held strong at 82%, reflecting sustained passenger demand for the current air service levels.

Air Service Updates:

  • Williston Basin International Airport:Delta Air Lines added a third daily flight to Minneapolis on August 1st. Sun Country Airlines also launched seasonal nonstop service to Las Vegas on September 4th, continuing through December 15th.

Individual Airport July Passenger Records:

  • Fargo - Hector International Airport set a new August record with 50,867 boardings, surpassing the previous high of 48,514 set in August 2024. This also marks Fargo's seventeenth consecutive month of all-time monthly highs.
  • Devils Lake Regional Airportreached a new August record with 946 boardings, exceeding the prior August record of 881 in 2024.
