Andrews Federal Credit Union is proud to announce that Colonel L. Dail Turner (Ret. U.S. Air Force) has been named to the Defense Credit Union Council Hall of Honor.

This honor recognizes individuals in the credit union movement who have made significant contributions to both their respective credit union and the Defense Credit Union industry as a whole.

For more than 30 years, Colonel Turner has provided exceptional governance and strategic guidance to Andrews Federal, helping lead its growth from a $450 million institution into a $2.6 billion global financial cooperative serving military members, veterans, and civilians worldwide.

Under his leadership, Andrews Federal earned numerous honors, including being named Army Credit Union of the Year four times and Air Force Credit Union of the Year twice. During his tenure, the credit union was also recognized by NerdWallet as the nation's second-best credit union in 2026, named among Yahoo Finance's 10 Best Credit Unions of 2026, selected as the top credit union for military families by the Wall Street Journal's BuySide, and included on Forbes' "America's Best-in-State Credit Unions" list in 2025.

Col. Turner graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1972 and he began his military career in an operational flying squadron at Andrews Air Force Base as a second lieutenant. That same year, he joined Andrews Federal, marking the beginning of a lifelong connection to the institution and to the broader credit union movement.

Colonel Turner has dedicated his career to serving military communities through both military and credit union leadership. His steadfast commitment to the philosophy of "People Helping People" and his enduring contributions to the defense credit union industry have left a lasting legacy that continues to impact servicemembers, veterans, and their families around the world.

According to Andrews Federal Credit Union leadership, Turner's dedication has been integral to the institution's ongoing success. "Our Board of Directors includes exceptional leaders who provide guidance and set the vision for our institution," said Andrews Federal President and CEO Ken Orgeron. "Col. Turner unites military experience with strategic acumen and dedication to serving those who serve. We are honored to have his knowledge and expertise benefitting members through his service on our credit union board."

Turner will be officially inducted into the DCUC Hall of Honor at the Hall of Honor Gala on August 5, 2026 at the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa in Aventura, Florida. To learn more about DCUC's Hall of Honor, please visit dcuc.org/hoh
