Deluzio’s $185 Million for Western PA Projects Signed into Law, Including More Than $183 Million to Modernize Beaver County’s Montgomery Locks and Dam

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) celebrated that funding for four of his community projects was signed into law-bringing more than $185 million in federal funds back to key projects in Western Pennsylvania. The single biggest item is funding to help modernize the Montgomery Locks and Dam along the Ohio River in Beaver County, along with other projects to fund local water infrastructure and police equipment.

Congressman Deluzio's success shepherding these projects into law makes him the top U.S. House Democrat in securing community project funding in 2026 spending bills.

"Today's wins are historic, and I'm proud that I secured these substantial federal dollars and was the top Democrat in the U.S. House in bringing home community project funding," said Congressman Deluzio. "Soon, we will see more than $185 million in federal funding come back to Western Pennsylvania to support local police, water infrastructure, and critical lock and dam improvements. I am especially proud that I was able to secure $183 million for the U.S. Army Corps to modernize the Montgomery Locks and Dam system for the 21st century. Infrastructure that's critical to our regional economy, this modernization project will keep commerce flowing and will create tens of thousands of solid, union construction jobs and thousands of long-term jobs. I'll always go to bat for Western PA down in Washington."

Congressman Deluzio selected these community projects after comprehensive outreach to local groups and stakeholders. The community project funding process is coupled with eligibility, ethics, and transparency requirements.

The $185,356,000 in funding passed into law across the following four projects:

  • $183,829,000 for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' mega project to modernize the Montogomery Locks and Dam in Beaver County
  • $900,000 for the Municipal Water Authority of Aliquippa to purchase updated wastewater treatment equipment
  • $502,000 for Ross Township Police Department to purchase body-worn cameras
  • $125,000 for the Allegheny Valley Regional Police Department to purchase a police river patrol boat

In December 2025, Congressman Deluzio also secured $1.2 million to support construction of the Ambridge Borough Recreational Center and upgrades to Tarentum's water treatment plant and pump house. These funding measures have already been approved by the Senate and signed into law-Congressman Deluzio recently presented a ceremonial check for more than $1 million to the Borough of Ambridge. And last week, the House of Representatives passed another funding bill that included more than $6.8 million in funding for eight community funding projects in Pennsylvania's 17th Congressional District requested by Congressman Deluzio.

Congressman Deluzio's office has already brought home more than $4.8 billion in federal funds to the congressional district, and he will keep up the fight to bring home resources to Western Pennsylvania.
