Derby Line Resident Charged with Luring a Child and Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Materials

The Attorney General's Office today announced that Adam Barrup, 39, of Derby Line, Vermont, was arraigned on one felony count of luring a child and seven felony counts of possession of child sexual abuse materials. The charges brought against Mr. Barrup are the result of a criminal investigation, including the execution of search warrants, conducted by the Vermont Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (VT-ICAC) which included personnel from the Attorney General's Office.

Mr. Barrup pleaded not guilty at the arraignment today in Vermont Superior Court, Orleans Unit, Criminal Division. The Court, Judge Rory Thibault presiding, ordered a $1000 secured appearance bond and conditions of release which prohibit Mr. Barrup from leaving Vermont, accessing or contacting any minors, and restricts his access to the internet.

VT-ICAC investigates cases of child sexual exploitation occurring over the internet, including the production and online distribution of child sexual abuse materials. VT-ICAC also provides forensic examination services, technical assistance, law enforcement training, and public education and outreach.
