Veterinary leaders donate hand-assembled beds, toys to Anti-Cruelty

(SCHAUMBURG, Illinois) January 13, 2026-Veterinary leaders committed to shaping the future of animal health converged on Chicago for the American Veterinary Medical Association's (AVMA) Veterinary Leadership Conference (VLC), where veterinarians, veterinary technicians, students, and practice managers from across the country honed critical leadership skills and forged professional connections. As part of this year's annual event, AVMA partnered with Synchrony's CareCredit and Anti-Cruelty on a special project to benefit pets in Chicago.

Veterinary professionals attending VLC expanded their leadership abilities through continuing education, governance participation, and networking with peers who share their passion for advancing animal health.

"VLC is the premier leadership conference for our profession," said Dr. Michael Q. Bailey, President, AVMA. "VLC gives veterinary professionals the tools and connections they need to become better leaders in their practice, their community, or the profession at large."

Many VLC attendees also participated in a special service project hosted by CareCredit, a part of Synchrony's Health & Wellness division, to benefit Anti-Cruelty. The group assembled dozens of dog and cat beds, and snuffle mats (enrichment toys) for donation to Anti-Cruelty in Chicago.

"We're incredibly grateful to the AVMA and Veterinary Leadership Conference attendees for choosing to support Anti-Cruelty," said Darlene Duggan, President of Anti-Cruelty. "The pet beds and enrichment items assembled through this project provide real, tangible comfort for animals in our care, and it means a great deal to see veterinary leaders give back in such a hands-on way. Their generosity directly improves the daily lives of animals while they wait for loving homes."

"Veterinary professionals dedicate their careers to improving animal health and well-being, and CareCredit supports them as they help clients navigate financial challenges and deliver the best care for their pets," said Jonathan Wainberg, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Pet, Synchrony. "It's only fitting that CareCredit also gives back to the community by helping provide comfort and care to vulnerable animals. We are proud to partner with AVMA and VLC attendees on this meaningful service project."
