PANGKALPINANG -- PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk continues to demonstrate its commitment to empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) while preserving the region's cultural heritage. This time, the company is supporting the promotion of Bangka Belitung's traditional Cual fabric at the 2026 National Crafts Council (Dekranas) Craft and Textile Exhibition, which will be held at Trans Studio Mall Makassar from July 9-12, 2026.

Bangka Belitung's participation in this national-scale exhibition serves as a strategic opportunity to introduce the region's rich craftsmanship and traditional textiles to a wider audience while creating new market opportunities for local MSMEs.

The Dekranas Craft and Textile Exhibition is part of the 54th Family Welfare Movement Unity Day (HKG PKK) celebration and the 46th anniversary of Dekranas. The main event is scheduled for July 10, 2026, and will be officially opened by Dekranas Chairwoman and the wife of the Vice President of Indonesia, Selvi Ananda, together with the Central Dekranas Board.

As part of its support for regional flagship products, PT TIMAH is facilitating the exhibition of three pieces of Cual fabric produced by Ishadi Cual, one of the company's fostered MSMEs. The fabrics will be showcased as part of Bangka Belitung's promotional display at the national event.

Cual fabric was selected because it is recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) of Indonesia and serves as one of the cultural identities of the Bangka Belitung community. This distinctive textile is renowned for its culturally meaningful motifs and exceptional artistic value, giving it strong potential to reach both national and international markets.

Head of the Bangka Belitung Islands Provincial Office of Industry and Trade and Daily Chair of the Bangka Belitung Islands Dekranasda, Subekti Saputra, said that participating in the Dekranas exhibition is an important step toward expanding promotion efforts and increasing the market reach of the region's craft and textile products.

"Our participation in the Dekranas Exhibition reflects Dekranasda's commitment to developing Bangka Belitung's traditional textiles and handicrafts. This event serves as a promotional platform to introduce our regional products to a broader audience, support community economic growth, and expand market opportunities," he said.

According to Subekti, collaboration among the regional government, Dekranasda, the business sector, and MSMEs plays a crucial role in strengthening the competitiveness of local products. He therefore expressed his appreciation for PT TIMAH's consistent support for various MSME empowerment initiatives.

"We would like to thank PT TIMAH for its continuous support for Dekranasda and local MSMEs. Over the years, we have collaborated on numerous exhibitions and capacity-building programs. We hope this strong partnership will continue so that Bangka Belitung's flagship products gain greater recognition at both the national and international levels," he said.

PT TIMAH has consistently implemented a variety of MSME empowerment programs, including business mentoring, training, capacity building, and providing promotional opportunities for its fostered business partners.

Its support for promoting Cual fabric at Dekranas 2026 reflects PT TIMAH's ongoing commitment to strengthening the competitiveness of local products while preserving Bangka Belitung's cultural heritage.

Through its collaboration with the Bangka Belitung Islands Dekranasda, PT TIMAH hopes that Cual fabric will become more widely recognized, reach larger markets, and generate greater economic benefits for local artisans and MSMEs. (*)
