First candidate to interview for Kansas School for the Deaf superintendent today
The public is invited to meet Jennifer Kucinski at 4:30 p.m .
OLATHE - Jennifer Kucinski, a candidate for superintendent of the Kansas School for the Deaf (KSD), will interview today, Wednesday, March 25, followed by a public forum for community members to meet her.
Kucinski brings 26 years of experience as a Deaf professional. She currently serves as special education administrator, admissions coordinator and extended school year program director at KSD. She previously served as a school psychologist and holds licenses in PreK-12 building leadership and school psychology.
She is pursuing a doctorate in education leadership and policy studies at the University of Kansas. She earned a Master of Arts in developmental psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C.
Parents, community members, KSD staff and other stakeholders are invited to attend the public forum from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in Murphy Auditorium, 450 E. Park, in Olathe.
The Kansas State Board of Education serves as the governing body for KSD and is responsible for hiring the superintendent.
Dr. Luanne Barron recently announced her retirement after nearly 40 years in Deaf education, including the past nine years as KSD superintendent. The board will announce her successor at a later date.
