Four members of a suspected serial robbery crew are jailed following their arrests last night by Violent Crimes Division detectives. Seized were thousands of dollars in cash, narcotics (including fentanyl), and guns.
Detectives responded to a market robbery Wednesday night on Foster Avenue in which a shot was fired into the air as the suspect demanded cash from an employee. Video surveillance from the business allowed detectives to quickly identify the Nissan Rogue the suspect used to flee the scene with thousands of dollars in cash.
The Rogue was located on Harding Place and during a traffic stop one of the occupants, Jose Luis Martinez, 54, was apprehended before the vehicle sped off. With assistance from MNPD Aviation, the Rogue was followed until the driver, Luis Martinez-Martinez, 34, and the passenger, Rigoberto Martinez, 32, were arrested after running from the car. A loaded handgun and cash taken in the Foster Avenue market were found by detectives in their flight path.
Martinez-Martinez was wearing the same clothing from that robbery and detectives located a large sum of cash during his arrest.
Detectives conducted a search of Martinez-Martinez's Harding Place apartment and recovered a shotgun, fentanyl and more than $15,000 cash.
Based on the investigation, an additional search was conducted at a home on Keeley Drive in which methamphetamine, marijuana and cocaine were located. The occupant of that home, Ruben Perez Comacho, 33, was arrested and charged with three counts of drug possession.
