Jordan Ponzo Perry Confirmed by Delaware State Senate

Ponzo Perry was nominated by Governor Meyer last week; subsequently sworn in after confirmation

WILMINGTON - Governor Matt Meyer today congratulated Jordan Ponzo Perry, Esq., on her confirmation by the Delaware State Senate as judge to the Court of Common Pleas.

Ponzo Perry, a Wilmington native, brings nearly 20 years of legal experience as a criminal prosecutor and civil litigator to the bench. She currently serves as an Assistant County Attorney for New Castle County, where she represents the Department of Public Safety and works closely with law enforcement, emergency responders, and county officials on a wide range of legal matters.

"Her career has been defined by integrity, fairness, and a deep commitment to justice, and I have no doubt she will serve the people of Delaware with distinction on the bench."

Earlier in her career, Ponzo Perry served as an Assistant State's Attorney in Prince George's County, Maryland, where she tried countless misdemeanor and felony cases. She later practiced as a civil trial attorney and partner at a Wilmington-based law firm.

ABOUT THE NOMINEE

Jordan Ponzo Perry, Esq., has nearly two decades of experience as a prosecutor, trial attorney, and public servant. She currently serves as an Assistant County Attorney for the New Castle County Department of Public Safety, where she prosecutes violations of the New Castle County Code, drafts and reviews contracts, policy and legislation, and represents New Castle County in a wide range of civil matters.

Previously, Ponzo Perry served as a Partner at Jacobs & Crumplar, P.A., handling personal injury, toxic tort, and abuse litigation, and as an Assistant State's Attorney where she prosecuted misdemeanors and felonies in the District and Circuit Courts of Prince George's County.

In addition to her legal practice, Ponzo Perry is an Adjunct Professor at Wilmington University, teaching courses in contracts, torts, and cyberlaw.

Ponzo Perry holds a Juris Doctor from Howard University School of Law and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Delaware. She is a graduate of Leadership Delaware and has earned certificates in Command and Leadership and Women's Leadership.

She is admitted to practice law in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and the District of Columbia. Ponzo Perry has served on the Delaware State Bar Association's Nominating Committee and currently serves on the Superior Court Civil Rules Committee. She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Delaware Barristers Association and Black Women Lawyers of Delaware.
