Cooling Center Activation on Saturday, October 3, 2026, and Sunday, October 4, 2026

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory and Extreme Heat Warning for Saturday, October 3 and Sunday, October 4.

In response, the City of Simi Valley is opening air-conditioned cooling centers to help people stay cool and safe:

  • Simi Valley Public Library: 2969 Tapo Canyon Rd, Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Simi Valley Senior Center: 3900 Avenida Simi, Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Simi Valley Transit will also run extended service until 8:00 p.m. to help residents access the centers, including those needing ADA accessible service.

What does the advisory and warning mean? A Heat Advisory means dangerous heat is expected. Take action to protect yourself. An Extreme Heat Warning means dangerously hot conditions are possible in the coming days with high risk for dangerous heat illness.

Stay safe by:

  • Drinking plenty of water.
  • Staying in air-conditioned or cool indoor spaces
  • Limiting outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day
  • Checking on older adults, neighbors, and anyone without air conditioning
  • Never leaving children or pets in parked vehicles!
