Metzgar’s, Stefano’s Efforts Successful in Securing Over $1.9 Million in State Funding for Somerset County

HARRISBURG - Rep. Carl Walker Metzgar (R-69) and Sen. Pat Stefano (R-32) announced they secured more than $1.9 million in Local Share Account (LSA) grant funding for Somerset County to assist with projects aimed at boosting local infrastructure, public safety and community resources.

The following projects were approved:
• Confluence Borough: $300,000 to mill and repave Casselman Street and Railroad Street.
• Somerset County Redevelopment Authority: $279,945 to renovate the Shoemaker Home in Somerset Township.
• Quemahoning Township: $234,185 to buy a multi-purpose truck to be utilized throughout the township.
• Central City Water Authority: $200,000 to replace aging and inefficient water infrastructure between Shade Street and Pine Street.
• Salisbury Borough: $200,000 to replace reservoir equipment.
• Shanksville Stonycreek Joint Sewer Authority: $196,874 to rehabilitate the sewage pumping station in Stonycreek Township.
• Milford Township: $162,750 to repair Greenhouse Road.
• Shade Central City Joint Authority: $150,000 to install a de-chlorination facility and related appurtenances in Shade Township.
• Lower Turkeyfoot Township: $142,712 to purchase a non-CDL truck with attachments.
• Somerset County Redevelopment Authority: $43,951 to make improvements to the Laurel Arts Education and Dance Center in Somerset Township.
• Boswell Borough Municipal Authority: $30,000 to buy leak detection equipment for the water distribution system.

"Securing this funding is a responsibility I take seriously, and I'm proud to have delivered these investments for Somerset County," said Metzgar. "These dollars will go a long way toward addressing pressing community needs and improving the quality of life for everyone who calls Somerset County home."

The grants were approved and awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which was established as an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania's economic growth.
