SPD Respond to Several Underage Drivers on Electric Motorcycles

Around noon on July 18th, 2026 callers reported 15 to 20 juveniles riding through the Southside Sports Complex on E-Motorcycles. When officers arrived they all scattered.

Officers were able to track down about 8 different children ranging from 8 years old to 14 years old. Officers learned this incident had been promoted through social media. They also learned some of the underage drivers had traveled by E-Motorcycle from Spokane Valley for the event.

Officers took the opportunity to educate both the children and the parents of the laws surrounding E-Motorcycles in Washington state, as well as the dangers they pose when not used in an appropriate manner. Parents were called to the scene to take custody of all 8 juveniles as well as their E-Motorcycles.

As a reminder, E-Motorcycles are considered motorized vehicles in the state of Washington. All drivers must have a driver's license along with a motorcycle endorsement to ride on the road. The Spokane Police Department is urging parents to educate themselves and their children on how to ride responsibly and within the new laws regarding E-Bikes and Motorcycles.
