It's National Farm Health and Safety Week, Sept. 21-27. Did you know that agriculture is still one of the most hazardous industries in the United States?
According to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, about 100 agricultural workers suffer a lost-work-time injury every day, and farmers are nearly twice as likely to die on the job as the average U.S. worker.
To increase awareness, the U.S. Department of Agriculture shared a video highlighting one major cause of farm injuries and fatalities: grain entrapment. If you use grain bins for storage, please never assume entrapment can't happen to you. Watch the video and share it with your loved ones as a reminder to stay safe when working inside a grain bin.
