The holiday season is just around the corner! The City of Santa Fe Parks and Open Space Division will begin decorating the Santa Fe Plaza on Monday, October 26, with work expected to be completed by the end of the day on Wednesday, November 25.
Each year, City crews install thousands of lights, along with garlands and farolitos, to transform the Plaza into a festive holiday destination. The decorating process takes several weeks and involves ladders and aerial lifts.
Temporary Plaza Closures
For public safety, crews will temporarily close designated areas of the Plaza and place barricades while work is underway. Residents, visitors, motorists, and Plaza vendors are encouraged to use caution, follow posted signs, and use alternate routes when necessary.
The decorating work will prepare the Plaza for the annual holiday lighting on Friday, November 27, the day after Thanksgiving.
Holiday decorations are scheduled to be removed in January 2027.
