JOLIET, Ill. - The City of Joliet invites residents and visitors to join in a community-wide celebration of America's 250th Anniversary with three days of patriotic festivities, NASCAR excitement, family-friendly entertainment, and spectacular fireworks during Joliet Freedom Weekend: America 250 from July 2-4.
The celebration will commemorate 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence while showcasing the community spirit, history, and pride that make Joliet a great place to live, work, and visit.
July 2: Race Fan Rally & Concert on the Hill at Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park
The holiday weekend begins with the return of the popular Race Fan Rally on Thursday, July 2, from 4 to 10 p.m. at City Square in downtown Joliet.
Presented by the Joliet City Center Partnership, the event celebrates Joliet's rich motorsports heritage and the return of NASCAR racing to the area. Fans of all ages will have the opportunity to see race cars up close, meet drivers, enjoy live entertainment, visit vendors, and participate in interactive activities throughout the evening. The event will also feature Cars & Guitars, bringing together classic cars, live music, and Route 66 nostalgia in the heart of downtown. Race Fan Rally admission is free.
Kick off your America 250 Celebration at Concert on the Hill with Schtillrokken at 6:30 p.m., the ultimate party band delivering high-energy hits spanning multiple decades and genres, guaranteed to have everyone singing along and dancing all night long.
July 3: Eve of Independence - America 250 Celebration & Block Party
The festivities continue Thursday, July 3, from 6 to 10 p.m. at Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park & Theatre (201 W. Jefferson Street).
Residents can enjoy live music, food vendors, family activities, and a festive community gathering in the heart of downtown Joliet. The evening will conclude with a fireworks display beginning at approximately 9:30 p.m. The event is free to attend.

City Square, 91 N. Chicago Street, gets into the celebration on July 3 with a special Sounds on 66 performance.
July 4: America 250 Fireworks Spectacular
The celebration culminates on Independence Day at Busey Bank Field at Joliet Memorial Stadium (3000 W. Jefferson Street).
Stadium gates will open at 6 p.m., with one of the region's premier fireworks displays beginning at approximately 9:30 p.m. The show will be synchronized to music broadcast on STAR 96.7, creating an unforgettable patriotic experience for attendees. Admission is free.
July 5: NASCAR Returns to Joliet
Joliet Freedom Weekend concludes with the highly anticipated return of NASCAR racing to Chicagoland Speedway (500 Speedway Boulevard) on Sunday, July 5. Race fans will once again experience the sights, sounds, and excitement of NASCAR in Joliet.
The return of racing is expected to draw thousands of fans to the area and serves as a fitting finale to a week of community celebrations, patriotic festivities, and unforgettable entertainment.
Community-Wide Patriotic Decorating Initiative
As part of the America 250 celebration, the City is encouraging residents, businesses, neighborhood groups, and organizations to show their patriotic pride by decorating homes, storefronts, and properties in red, white, and blue.
Flags, banners, lights, flowers, and other festive decorations are encouraged throughout the community leading up to the holiday weekend. Whether creating an elaborate display or adding a few patriotic touches, every contribution will help showcase Joliet's community spirit and make the city a vibrant destination for residents and visitors alike.
