Equipment donation strengthens skills development at Lao Polytechnic College

ILO/China Partnership Programme supports collaboration between Chinese and Lao institutions.

VIENTIANE (ILO News) - Training equipment donated by the Tianjin Electronic Information Technician College to the Polytechnic College of the Lao People's Democratic Republic will help strengthen the Lao institution and enhance practical learning opportunities for its students.

The donation of network comprehensive wiring training platforms, which took place on 23 June 2026, was made possible through the support of the ILO-China Partnership Programme on Skills Development.

The equipment, which includes a network termination training device and its associated testing equipment, is an educational system used to teach and practice the installation, configuration, testing and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems. It will be used to improve the quality of practical training and teaching on the Network Information Technology course at the Lao institution.

"This support will enhance IT education to meet the demands of the digital era. It significantly improves teaching capacity, enabling students to gain hands-on experience with international-standard technology and strengthening workforce skills," said Lamphone Sengsavang, Deputy Director of the Polytechnic College of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

The donation also further strengthens vocational education cooperation and skills development between the two institutions.

"This gesture symbolizes a strong partnership and lasting friendship between our institutions. I look forward to further expanding cooperation in areas such as teacher exchanges and curriculum development in the future," Deputy Director Sengsavang added.

The donation event was organized in Tianjin Electronic Information Technician College in Tianjin, China. Participants included representatives from the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China, Tianjin Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, Tianjin Electronic Information Technician College, the Polytechnic College of the Lao People's Democratic Republic and ILO/China Partnership project.

Implemented with the financial support from the government of China through the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the ILO/China Partnership Programme on Strengthening Skills Development in ASEAN through South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) is designed to improve skills development, labour market participation, promote gender equality and inclusiveness in Lao People's Democratic Republic.
