Author To Speak at National Recovery Month Lecture

The Counseling and Human Services Department and The Jesuit Center will present a National Recovery Month Lecture Series featuring author, Rev. Robert McChesney, S.J., on Monday, Sept. 22 at 5:30 p.m. in the Kane Forum, second floor, Leahy Hall. The free event will be open to the public.

National Recovery Month 2025 takes place throughout the month of September.

Fr. McChesney has accompanied war refugees, military veterans and survivors of sexual violence and child abuse as chaplain, pastoral counselor, and retreat guide for more than 30 years, paying particular attention to the intersection of Ignatian spirituality and mental health in the healing of traumatic injury.

He has served with the Jesuit Refugee Service in the Middle East, at a federal immigration detention center in Los Angeles Harbor, and as national director in Washington, DC. Fr. McChesney is a frequent speaker at workshops and conferences regarding soul repair in trauma recovery. He is a member of the Georgetown Jesuit community in Washington, DC.
