When the UCI was launched in 2005, Monmouth University recognized that our location just a mile from the beach and the Atlantic Ocean was an ideal laboratory for studying how we can live sustainably along the coast. It also provides an opportunity to leverage the expertise of our faculty and the passion of our students to work with other partners who share our passion for the ocean and coast.

"Reflections: Two Decades Supporting Stewardship of Coastal Communities and Ocean Resources" takes a look back at some of the UCI's major milestones, accomplishments and signature events. Twenty years later, the UCI has made an indelible impact on the coastal communities we serve, our campus, and has helped inspire the next generation of ocean leaders. It also reflects how UCI has grown in influence and capacity, and is well prepared to continue to build on our success in the years ahead.

Celebrate the UCI's 20^th Anniversary

There will be opportunities to celebrate the UCI's 20^th anniversary with us throughout the fall.

• Please join us Oct. 9 for the 2025 Future of the Ocean Symposium and Champion of the Ocean Awards Luncheon, to be held at Monmouth's historic Great Hall at Shadow Lawn. The symposium is free and open to the public. Luncheon tickets and sponsorship opportunities are also available. Proceeds will support expanded student research opportunities.
