City of West Hollywood Announces Opening of New Dog Park at Plummer Park

The City of West Hollywood is excited to announce the opening of a new dog park at Plummer Park, located at 7377 Santa Monica Boulevard, creating a welcoming new space in the heart of West Hollywood's Eastside for dogs and their people to enjoy.

The new dog park at Plummer Park will open with a soft opening beginning Friday, October 9, 2026, giving community members and their four-legged companions an opportunity to begin enjoying the new space. The dog park will be accessible daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The City of West Hollywood will host a Dog Park Grand Opening Ribbon-Cutting with members of the West Hollywood City Council on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 1:45 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the new dog park. City leaders will share brief remarks and officially celebrate the opening of this new community amenity. Community members are invited to stop by, explore the new dog park, and join the celebration with their canine companions.

Following the ribbon-cutting, the City's Recreation Services Division will activate a free "Fang-tastic" Pet Zone at Plummer Park's Vista Lawn from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Furry friends can create a paw-print keepsake and take part in a pet tarot card reading. Community members are encouraged to bring their leashed pets dressed in Halloween costumes and participate in a festive Pet Costume Showcase.

The Pet Zone will take place alongside the City's free family-friendlyYouth Halloween Carnival from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. featuring costumes, games, music, and plenty of Halloween fun for all ages.

The City is pleased to share the following details about the new dog park at Plummer Park, which has been designed with the community's four-legged friends in mind:

  • The dog park offers an off-leash play area divided into separate spaces for small dogs and large dogs.
  • The dog park is fully enclosed, with the small- and large-dog areas separated by a durable fence system. The fencing features playful, artistic laser-cut panels at key locations, including entry points.
  • Shade sails provide additional shade throughout the dog park.
  • Low up-lighting along the perimeter fence provides nighttime visibility and highlights the decorative fence panels.
  • Double-gate entries at the west and south entry/exit areas provide protected spaces for safely transitioning dogs on and off leash.
  • A new, fully accessible sloped walkway to the existing tennis court entrance along N. Vista Street replaces the previous ramp.
  • Non-toxic, drought-resistant landscaping surrounds the perimeter of the area.
  • A new tree at the site's northwestern corner provides additional shade.
  • A dual-use water fountain is available within each off-leash area, featuring an accessible fountain for people and a fountain at the base for dogs.
  • Pet waste stations and waste receptacles are available within each off-leash area.
  • Seating is available in both shaded and unshaded areas.

The new dog park expands recreational opportunities at Plummer Park and reflects the City's ongoing commitment to providing high-quality parks and public spaces that serve the diverse needs of the West Hollywood community.

The City has also recently kicked off Phase 2: Visioning & Planning for the Plummer Park Comprehensive Improvement Plan, beginning with the first public working session of the Plummer Park Planning Working Group. San Vicente Boulevard, separate small- and large-dog parks feature open space with trees and shade sails, small mounds and turf terraces for play, and water stations. William S. Hart Park, located at 8341 De Longpre Avenue, features a long-established off-leash dog play area that welcomes dogs of all sizes.
