On 28 October, H.E. Amb. Jiang Feng, Head of the Mission of China to the African Union, met with Ms. Doris Mpoumou, Special Representative of UN Women to the African Union Commission and United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.
Amb. Jiang emphasised the significant importance of the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women, expressing China's willingness to strengthen communication and coordination with the UN Women Liaison Office to the African Union to jointly implement the outcomes of the Meeting and advance the development of women's affairs in China and Africa. He also introduced the Global Governance Initiative, elaborated on the content of United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758 and the essence of the one-China principle.
Ms. Mpoumou highly commended China and UN Women for successfully hosting the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women in Beijing, spoke highly of the Global Governance Initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping. She expressed willingness to strengthen cooperation with China on women's affairs and emphasized that UN Women has always firmly adhered to the one-China principle.
