Full I-70 closure and related bridge work to begin on Sept. 22

Lincoln County - The Colorado Department of Transportation and Structures, Inc. will begin daytime one-lane closures and full nighttime closures that are needed for bridge work.

Daytime work will consist of single lane closures on both east and westbound I-70 at MP 361.9. Nighttime work and full closures with detours will occur in two locations: eastbound I-70 at exit 361 Limon; and westbound I-70 from exit 363 US 40/287 to 361 Limon.

Bridge work can be expected weekdays starting Monday, Sept. 22. This work is needed to perform critical structural repairs to extend the lifetime and safety of the bridge. Full closure of I-70 is necessary for the safety of the traveling public and the integrity of the structure. All work is dependent on weather and railroad permitting.

Travel Impacts

• Nighttime work full closures are Sunday through Thursday nights, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Detour Eastbound I-70 Exit 361 off-ramp to Exit 361 on-ramp
  • Detour Westbound I-70 Exit 363 off-ramp to Exit 361 on-ramp
• Daytime work single lane closures both eastbound and westbound at Exit 361
• The speed limit will be reduced through the work zone. Speed limit reduction may vary depending on the location of the structure
• Motorists can expect delays

• Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
• Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
• Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
• Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
• Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
• Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
• Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
• Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
• Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
• Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
• Be patient!
