Registration is underway for Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU)'s 71st Annual Band Camp through July 6. Middle and high school musicians are invited to join the SWOSU Department of Music in Weatherford July 12-17 for a week of rehearsals, performances, classes, and activities.

Band Camp gives young musicians a chance to continue building their musical skills during the summer while experiencing SWOSU's campus and music community. Throughout the week, students participate in rehearsals, sectionals, elective classes, performances, and social activities while building friendships and making memories with fellow musicians from around the region.

Students audition for placement into one of six concert bands and select from nearly 50 elective class options ranging from color guard, drum major, and jazz improv courses to instrument maintenance, music and movies, and chamber ensembles. Evening activities include a talent show, dances, faculty performances, and more. The week will culminate with performances by all six concert bands on Friday, July 17 in the Fine Arts Auditorium.

The SWOSU Band Camp marks the sixth and final music camp of the 2026 season. Earlier this summer, SWOSU hosted String Camp, Musical Theater Camp, Jazz Camp, All-State Choral Camp, and Middle School Band Camp.

Recently, more than 260 students attended Middle School Band Camp. Campers filled rehearsal rooms, classrooms, residence halls, and performance spaces while studying with SWOSU faculty and accomplished music educators from the region.

Each summer, approximately 1,000 students and faculty travel from around the region to attend SWOSU Music Camps each year. Residential and commuter options are available for campers.

Additional information, audition music, and online registration are available at swosucamps.com. Questions may be directed to the SWOSU Music Camp Office at 580-774-3296.
