Packing with Purpose: Host Employees Hold a Community Care Day to Support Local Youth and Women

In September, Host's service team and Women's Inspirational Network brought employees together for a Community Care Day, supporting two local nonprofit organizations serving youth and women in our community. Across two volunteer sessions, nearly 50 employees packed hundreds of essential items for the Latin American Youth Center (LAYC) and N Street Village, helping provide nourishment, comfort and everyday essentials to those who need them most. The event reflects Host's commitment to creating positive impact in the communities where we live and work, bringing our community impact strategy to life through hands-on employee service.

Supporting Local Youth at the Latin American Youth Center

Employees packed 500 snack bags - including juice boxes, veggie straws, chips and other after-school snacks - for youth participating in LAYC's after-school program, including 100 snack bags that went directly to an LAYC event taking place that weekend. The team also donated additional snacks for the center.

Latin American Youth Center empowers all youth to achieve academic, social and career success through comprehensive programs and opportunities that help them build skills and self-confidence they need to thrive in adulthood.

Supporting Women at N Street Village

Employees packed 578 toiletry kits for N Street Village, each filled with everyday essentials - including shampoo, conditioner, soap, a toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, body lotion, and more - for women experiencing homelessness or housing instability. The team also donated 600 feminine hygiene products to N Street Village's shelters. A group of employee volunteers then hand-delivered the donations to N Street Village in Washington, D.C., where they toured the facility and learned more about the organization's work supporting women in our community.

N Street Village empowers women experiencing homelessness by providing housing, health and wellness services and a broad continuum of supportive programs that foster dignity, stability and independence.

Together, we packed with purpose and helped ensure our community partners have the resources they need to continue changing lives - one package at a time. This Community Care Day is just one example of how Host employees put our values into action.
