Thank you, Columbia, for helping make the City's second Community Summit a success.
Hundreds of residents from across Columbia's six wards gathered Saturday, March 14, for the annual event.
Held at City Hall, the Summit featured interactive booths aligned with the five strategic goals outlined in the City's Strategic Plan. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about current and future City initiatives while providing feedback on major services, community priorities and potential improvements.
A kid's booth was available at the Community Summit to provide learning opportunities for the entire family.
"The Community Summit continues to be an important opportunity for dialogue between the City and our residents," said City Manager De'Carlon Seewood. "We took the input received from our first Summit and implemented changes and new initiatives, and I look forward to doing the same with the feedback we received this year."
Residents used "CoMo Bucks" to vote on areas they believe should receive additional funding, ensuring community voices help inform City staff and City Council decisions. Children also had opportunities to participate and share their feedback.
In addition to informational booths, the event featured performances by Jabberwocky Studios, TRYPS Children's Theatre and Compass Music. Attendees enjoyed complimentary snacks, and metered parking enforcement was suspended during the event, with parking garages available free of charge.
A report based on the Summit feedback will be available in the coming months. For more information, visit the Community Summit page.
