KazTransOil JSC has completed the tie-in of rerouted sections of the Martyshi- Atyrau main oil pipeline at KP 11.2-11.4 and KP 20.5-20.7, where the pipeline intersects with the A27 Aktobe-Atyrau-Russian border (Astrakhan) national highway, currently undergoing reconstruction.
The highway reconstruction is part of Kazakhstan's infrastructure development programme aimed at establishing a strategic transport corridor linking the country's regions with the Russian Federation. As the reconstructed highway bypassing the village of Akkystau crosses the existing oil pipeline, the affected pipeline sections had to be rerouted to meet the safety and operational reliability requirements of both infrastructure facilities.
The project involved the construction of two pipeline sections, each with a diameter of 530 mm and lengths of 238.86 metres and 287.2 metres, respectively. All works were carried out in accordance with the applicable regulatory requirements of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Pipes with enhanced external anti-corrosion coating were used to ensure structural integrity and long- term durability. At the highway crossing points, the pipeline was enclosed in steel protective casings to provide additional protection against external mechanical impact.
