On June 19, Consul General Qin Jie, along with young colleagues of the Consulate and close to 30 young Indian friends, jointly celebrated the Dragon Boat Festival.
In his address, Mr. Qin briefly introduced the origin and customs of the Dragon Boat Festival. He noted that June 10 this year marks the second International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations, and expressed the hope that this event would deepen understanding of Chinese culture and enhance dialogue between the Chinese and Indian civilizations. He highlighted the four major global initiatives, pointing out that in today's turbulent world, countries can only navigate the winds and waves and achieve steady and long-term progress by standing together in solidarity and sharing a common future. China and India should expand exchanges and strengthen cooperation within frameworks such as BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, so as to help improve and advance bilateral relations.
Together, the participants made zongzi (rice dumplings), braided five-colored silk threads, and recited ancient poems, filling the venue with a rich festive atmosphere.
