NEW ADS: Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund Launches $1M Ad Campaign to Elect Abigail Spanberger

RICHMOND - Today, Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund launched a $1 million paid media campaign to elect Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger as Virginia's next governor. In coordination with the Spanberger campaign, the ads will run on digital and streaming platforms across the state, targeting independent and moderate voters. They highlight Spanberger's record of - and commitment to - combating gun violence and keeping Virginia communities, families, and children safe.

"As a federal law enforcement officer and Moms Demand Action volunteer, Abigail Spanberger knows from experience what it takes to protect families from gun violence," said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund. "Ensuring her election as Virginia's next governor is a top priority for Everytown, and our volunteers will go all-out to help one of their own become Governor."

"As a mom of three school-aged girls, I know firsthand the peace of mind that comes with knowing your family is safe and protected. Throughout my career, I've been proud to work to uphold the safety and security of our Commonwealth," said Abigail Spanberger. "As Virginia's next Governor, I will continue to focus on making our Commonwealth a safer place for Virginia families. When commonsense legislation comes to my desk that keeps Virginia families safe from gun violence, Virginians can trust that - unlike our current Governor - I will actually sign it into law. I'm grateful to Everytown for Gun Safety for working every day to stop the scourge of gun violence and for recognizing my deep commitment to keeping our communities safe."

Abigail Spanberger is a former Moms Demand Action volunteer who recognizes that gun safety is a nonpartisan public safety issue. In Congress, Spanberger championed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the first federal gun safety legislation in 30 years. She also supported gun violence prevention policies like closing the Charleston Loophole and implementing extreme risk protective orders.

Everytown for Gun Safety has made Virginia a proving ground for the gun safety movement, outspending the NRA over the last several election cycles to build strong, durable gun sense majorities. In 2023, Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and the Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund spent seven figures to help gun sense candidates flip the House of Delegates, defend the Senate, and elect our Moms Demand Action volunteers-turned-candidates up and down the ballot. Moms Demand Action volunteers currently make up nearly 20% of the Virginia House Democratic caucus. Our messaging framed weak gun laws and MAGA extremism as direct threats to community safety, successfully flipping the script on misleading crime attacks and winning battleground voters who named crime as a top concern.

AD TRANSCRIPT: "DAUGHTER"

She grew up outside Richmond…

The daughter of a nurse and a law enforcement officer

Abigail Spanberger…

She went into law enforcement to stop drug dealers and lock up child predators.

Joined the CIA to work counterterrorism…

… then Congress, to work with both parties to get things done.

Now she's running for governor…

To keep you and your families safe.

Service. Country. Commonwealth.

That's Abigail Spanberger.

AD TRANSCRIPT: "HONOR"

Service…

For Abigail Spanberger, it's not an obligation - it's an honor.

It's why she went into law enforcement,

Taking on drug traffickers,

and taking child predators off our streets.

Then joined the CIA to work counterterrorism…

And in Congress, Abigail Spanberger's worked across the aisle…

To hire more police officers…

And keep guns away from violent criminals.

Service. Country. Commonwealth.

Abigail Spanberger… for Governor.

Paid for by Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund. Authorized by Abigail Spanberger, candidate for Governor.
