Natural decrease and positive net migration
In the third quarter of 2025, natural decrease was recorded while net migration was positive. Total increase was 2,866.
More live births and fewer deaths
In the third quarter of 2025, 4,576 live births and 4,740 deaths were recorded in Slovenia. Compared to the third quarter of 2024, the number of live births was 77 (2%) higher, and the number of deaths 469 (9%) lower. In a year, the value of natural decrease changed from −1.3 per 1,000 population to −0.3.
More marriages
In the observed period, 2,442 couples were married and 438 couples were divorced. Compared to the third quarter of 2024, the number of marriages went up by 25 (1%), while the number of divorces was almost the same (one couple more divorced than a year before).
Decrease in internal migration
In the third quarter of 2025, 27,891 people migrated internally, which is 4% fewer than in the same period of 2024.
Fewer immigrants and emigrants
Compared to the same period of 2024, the number of immigrants to Slovenia decreased by 11% to 8,059. The number of emigrants decreased by 10% to 5,029. The number of citizens of Slovenia who emigrated abroad (1,400) was lower than the number of foreigners (3,629).
Positive net migration was recorded for foreign nationals (3,083 persons), while 53 Slovene citizens more emigrated from Slovenia than immigrated to it.
