Dollar General and Edgewell Personal Care Support Students and Educators Middle Tennessee

Dollar General and Edgewell Personal Care recently partnered to give back to Vena Stuart Elementary School in Gallatin, Tennessee which included a surprise $50,000 donation from Dollar General's Reading Revolution program, more than 700 books donated to Pre-K through fifth grade students' personal libraries as well as giveaways to staff.

"We are proud to continue our longstanding partnership with Edgewell Personal Care through giving back to our hometown community and uplifting Gallatin students and teachers," said Denine Torr, vice president of corporate social responsibility and philanthropy at Dollar General. "Investing in literacy and access to educational resources is an integral part of our mission of Serving Others, and we are proud to help create opportunities that inspire learning and creativity at Vena Stuart Elementary."

The surprise $50,000 Reading Revolution donation may be used to purchase books, technology programs, computers and/or other education supplies or resources needed to advance literacy gains. Since its inception in 2013, the Reading Revolution program has awarded more than $5 million to 137 schools and literacy-focused non-profit organizations. Additional donations at the event included a book to each student to grow their personal libraries from Edgewell Personal Care and DG gift cards for supplies and materials for all teachers and staff from Dollar General.

With a longstanding partnership to support education, creativity and serve its communities, Dollar General and Edgewell Personal Care first joined forces in 2022 through its annual Emerging Artist Contest with the Dollar General Literacy Foundation to elevate creative expression and encourage teachers to continue supporting literacy and the arts within their communities. Through 2024, the contest invited students to submit original artwork for the chance to have their design featured on limited-edition Schick Intuition packaging available exclusively at Dollar General.
