Deering Strongly Opposed to Green New Giveaway

January 8, 2026

Today, Gov Pritzker signed the Clean and Reliable Grid Act into law. This new law gives power to unelected bureaucrats, raises energy rates, leads to loss of good paying private union jobs, takes gambles with safe battery storage, risks rights of property owners, reduces local control, and makes our existing energy supply less reliable, all under the guise of "green energy."

As a member of the Energy and Environment Committee, I am keenly aware of the environmentalist push that is crushing not only our manufacturers and businesses, but our home energy crisis.

We need real energy reform. Policy that prioritizes affordability, reliability, grid stability, and safety. This law was pushed through Veto Session without those priorities in mind and instead catered to core interest groups.
