IAG, whose brands include NRMA Insurance, CGU, WFI, ROLLiN' and RACQ Insurance, is currently supporting customers impacted by severe storms across the Southeast Queensland region.
With more extreme weather forecast in the days ahead, IAG continues to deploy new advanced technology to strengthen its Major Event response capabilities.
A newly implemented AI model is transforming the make safe process by rapidly identifying cases that require urgent emergency repairs. This enables faster decision-making, allowing customers to receive assistance sooner. The system is streamlining operations and improving customer outcomes by ensuring resources are directed quickly and to where they are needed most.
Our teams are on the ground assisting customers to recover from hailstorms which caused significant damage to homes, vehicles and businesses across the Southeast Queensland region.
Fortunately, IAG is well placed to deploy its strong network of specialist hail and Partner Builder repairers to continue to assist customers with vehicle and property repairs, when hailstorms strike.

IAG has integrated its Situation Awareness Map (SAM) into the 24/7 Major Event Command Centre and with on-ground Property Assessing teams. SAM combines customer data with real-time hazard intelligence, including hail impact boundaries and severity information, to prioritise emergency repairs and proactively reach out to affected customers who may not have lodged claims.
Additionally, the use of Starlink satellite terminals in Help Response Vehicles and by Property Assessors ensures connectivity in remote or impacted areas, enhancing coordination and speed of service delivery.
IAG is also deploying Make Safe Tarping-a specialised, durable roof tarping system-as a modern and sustainable solution during major events such as hailstorms. This approach provides better protection against further weather-related damage compared to traditional tarps.
